BILL NUMBER: S6229 SPONSOR: HELMING TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the alcoholic beverage control law, in relation to wine products PURPOSE: Amends the definition of wine product to include beverages containing wine that have undergone a process to reduce or remove the alcoholic content SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1: Amends section 3 subsection 36-a of the alcoholic beverage control law to include wine beverages that have undergone a process to reduce or remove the alcoholic content from such product Section 2: effective date.

HELMING -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern- ment Operations AN ACT to amend the alcoholic beverage control law, in relation to wine products THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 36-a of section 3 of the alcoholic beverage control law, as amended by chapter 135 of the laws of 1985, is amended to read as follows: 36-a. "Wine product" means a beverage containing wine to which is added concentrated or unconcentrated juice, flavoring material, water, citric acid, sugar and carbon dioxide and containing not more than six per centum alcohol by volume, to which nothing other than such wine has been added to increase the alcoholic content of such beverage; OR A BEVERAGE CONTAINING WINE WHICH HAS UNDERGONE AN ALCOHOL REDUCTION PROC- ESS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO NANOFILTRATION, REVERSE OSMOSIS, OSMOT- IC DISTILLATION, VACUUM DISTILLATION, SPINNING CONE COLUMN, OR THROUGH A MULTI-STAGE MEMBRANE-BASED SYSTEM. § 2.
