 Introduced  by  Sen. HELMING -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
   printed to be committed to the Committee on Health
 
 AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to eligibility  for
   medical assistance
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

   Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subdivision 4 of section 366 of the social
 services law is amended by adding new subparagraph 4 to read as follows:
   (4) NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF LAW, FOR THE PERIOD OF JULY
 TWO THOUSAND TWENTY-THREE THROUGH JULY TWO  THOUSAND  TWENTY-FOUR,  EACH
 CHILD ELIGIBLE FOR MEDICAL ASSISTANCE IN THE MONTH IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING
 THE  MONTH  IN  WHICH  SUCH CHILD BECAME INELIGIBLE FOR SUCH ASSISTANCE,
 SHALL REMAIN ELIGIBLE FOR  MEDICAL  ASSISTANCE  FOR  AN  ADDITIONAL  SIX
 CALENDAR  MONTHS BEGINNING WITH THE MONTH INELIGIBILITY FOR SUCH ASSIST-
 ANCE BEGINS.
   § 2. Section 366 of the social services law is amended by adding a new
 subdivision 17 to read as follows:
   17. FOR THE PERIOD OF JULY TWO THOUSAND TWENTY-THREE THROUGH JULY  TWO
 THOUSAND  TWENTY-FOUR,  A  CHILD  BORN  TO  A WOMAN ELIGIBLE FOR MEDICAL
 ASSISTANCE ON THE DATE OF THE CHILD'S BIRTH AND A CHILD UNDER THE AGE OF
 NINETEEN WHO IS DETERMINED ELIGIBLE FOR  MEDICAL  ASSISTANCE  UNDER  THE
 PROVISIONS  OF THIS SECTION SHALL BE GRANTED CONTINUED ELIGIBILITY PEND-
 ING A REDETERMINATION OF ELIGIBILITY, TO BEGIN NO EARLIER THAN JULY  TWO
 THOUSAND TWENTY-FOUR.
   § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
