BILL NUMBER: S981 SPONSOR: MATTERA TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the tax law, in relation to exempting certain electrical supplies from sales and use taxes; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof PURPOSE: This bill exempts copper wire, romex wire, galvanized rigid conduit, intermediate metal conduit, electrical metal tubing, polyvinyl chloride conduit, metal and plastic electrical boxes from sales and use tax. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one amends subdivision (a) of section 1115 of the tax law by adding a new paragraph 15-a to exempt copper wire, romex wire, galvan- ized rigid conduit, intermediate metal conduit, electrical metal tubing, polyvinyl chloride conduit and metal and plastic electrical boxes from sales and use tax.

MATTERA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Budget and Revenue AN ACT to amend the tax law, in relation to exempting certain electrical supplies from sales and use taxes; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision (a) of section 1115 of the tax law is amended by adding a new paragraph 15-a to read as follows: (15-A) COPPER WIRE, ROMEX WIRE, GALVANIZED RIGID CONDUIT, INTERMEDIATE METAL CONDUIT, ELECTRICAL METAL TUBING, POLYVINYL CHLORIDE CONDUIT AND METAL AND PLASTIC ELECTRICAL BOXES. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be deemed repealed one year after the effective date of this act.
