REYES -- read once and referred to the Committee on Labor AN ACT to amend the labor law, in relation to the recognition of the establishment of a workplace safety committee by an employer THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subdivision 9 of section 27-d of the labor law, as added by a chapter of the laws of 2022 amending the labor law relating to employer violations of certain provisions allowing for work- place safety committees, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 9450 and A. 10492, is amended to read as follows: (a) An employer must recognize within [five] FIFTEEN business days the establishment of a workplace safety committee created pursuant to this section. Violations of this subdivision shall result in a civil penalty of not less than fifty dollars per day until the violation is remedied. § 2. This act shall take effect on the same date and in the same manner as a chapter of the laws of 2022 amending the labor law relating to employer violations of certain provisions allowing for workplace safety committees, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 9450 and A. 10492, takes effect.
