BILL NUMBER: S1054 SPONSOR: HINCHEY TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the agriculture and markets law, in relation to increas- ing the number of cuisine trails in the state PURPOSE OF BILL: To increase the number of cuisine trails in the state from 15 to 25 in order to accommodate new opportunities across the state. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one: Increases the number of cuisine trails allowed under para- graph (b) of subdivision 3 of section 284-a of the agriculture and markets law from fifteen to twenty-five. HINCHEY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Agriculture AN ACT to amend the agriculture and markets law, in relation to increas- ing the number of cuisine trails in the state THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The opening paragraph of paragraph (b) of subdivision 3 of section 284-a of the agriculture and markets law, as amended by chapter 314 of the laws of 2016, is amended to read as follows: Designations shall take into consideration geographic proximity and alignment, thematic consistency, geographic or historical consistency, density, economic feasibility, and the cooperation of agricultural producers on the trails to be designated. The department shall designate no more than fifteen farm trails, fifteen apple trails, and [fifteen] TWENTY-FIVE cuisine trails. Criteria for developing and approving such trails shall include: § 2.
