BILL NUMBER: S3057 SPONSOR: HELMING TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the education law, in relation to requiring schools to allow fire departments to make a recruitment presentation in a high school PURPOSE: This legislation intends to help fire department recruit new junior members within local schools. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1: Amends the education law by adding a new section 807-e: Fire department recruitment. The principal of any high school may allow any local fire department, upon request, to enter the school for the purpose of fire department junior recruitment, including, but not limited to: making presentations; disseminating literature, and answering questions from students.

HELMING, BROUK, STEC -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Educa- tion AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to requiring schools to allow fire departments to make a recruitment presentation in a high school THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 807-e to read as follows: § 807-E. FIRE DEPARTMENT RECRUITMENT. THE PRINCIPAL OF ANY HIGH SCHOOL SHALL ALLOW ANY LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT, UPON REQUEST, TO ENTER THE SCHOOL FOR THE PURPOSE OF FIRE DEPARTMENT JUNIOR RECRUITMENT, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO: MAKING PRESENTATIONS; DISSEMINATING LITERATURE; AND ANSWERING QUESTIONS BY STUDENTS. § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of July next succeeding the date on which it shall have become a law.
