BILL NUMBER: S3512 SPONSOR: MAY TITLE OF BILL: An act in relation to authorizing Christopher Walser to take the compet- itive civil service examination for the position of police officer and be placed on the eligible list for employment as a full-time police officer for the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: This legislation would allow for Christopher Walser to complete the civil service examination for the position of police officer, despite the age requirement. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1. Allow for Christopher Walser to be eligible under civil service law, including the age requirement under paragraph (a) of subdi- vision 1, for the civil service examination for the position of police officer. MAY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Civil Service and Pensions AN ACT in relation to authorizing Christopher Walser to take the compet- itive civil service examination for the position of police officer and be placed on the eligible list for employment as a full-time police officer for the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil service law, including the age requirements under paragraph (a) of subdivision 1 of such section, or any other provision of law to the contrary, Christopher Walser shall be eligible to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of police officer and shall, contingent upon his score on such examination, be eligible to be placed on the eligible list for appointment as a full-time police officer for the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office. § 2. Christopher Walser shall otherwise be subject to the merit and fitness provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time police officers. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
