BILL NUMBER: S7227 SPONSOR: MANNION TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 746 of the laws of 1957 relating to incorporat- ing the volunteer and exempt firemen's benevolent association of East Syracuse, Onondaga county, New York, and providing for the powers and duties of such corporation and for the payment to it of certain fire insurance premium tax monies, in relation to the purposes of such corpo- ration and the use of certain tax monies received PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: The purpose of this bill is to expand the scope of the enabling chapter of the Volunteer and Exempt Firefighters' Benevolent Association of East Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York to provide relief, aid and assist- ance to the volunteer members of such association and to allow use of association funds for current purposes. MANNION -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government AN ACT to amend chapter 746 of the laws of 1957 relating to incorporat- ing the volunteer and exempt firemen's benevolent association of East Syracuse, Onondaga county, New York, and providing for the powers and duties of such corporation and for the payment to it of certain fire insurance premium tax monies, in relation to the purposes of such corporation and the use of certain tax monies received THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Sections 1, 3 and 7 of chapter 746 of the laws of 1957 relating to incorporating the volunteer and exempt firemen's benevolent association of East Syracuse, Onondaga county, New York, and providing for the powers and duties of such corporation and for the payment to it of certain fire insurance premium tax monies, is amended to read as follows: Section 1. Incorporation; membership. A membership corporation by the name of "Volunteer and Exempt [Firemen's] FIREFIGHTERS' Benevolent Asso- ciation of East Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York" is hereby created. It shall be composed of such persons eligible to membership therein as hereinafter provided as shall (a) notify the secretary of the East Syra- cuse fire department in writing prior to the organization meeting of such corporation hereinafter provided for of their desire to become members, or (b) shall attend such meeting or an adjournment thereof and signify their intention of becoming members at such meeting, or (c) shall notify the secretary of such corporation in writing within sixty days after his OR HER election of their desire to become members there- of, and also such persons so eligible as may become members of such corporation pursuant to its by-laws. § 3. Purposes.
