   istration)  --  read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be
   committed to the Committee on Children and Families
 
 AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to kinship  guardi-
   anship  of  children  whose parental rights were surrendered or termi-
   nated

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1. Subdivision 1 of section 458-a of the social services law,
 as amended by chapter 607 of the laws of 2011, is  amended  to  read  as
 follows:
   1. "Child" shall mean a person under the age of twenty-one years whose
 custody, care and custody, or custody and guardianship have been commit-
 ted  to  a  social  services  official prior to such person's eighteenth
 birthday pursuant to section three hundred fifty-eight-a, THREE  HUNDRED
 EIGHTY-THREE-C,  three  hundred eighty-four, three hundred eighty-four-a
 or three hundred eighty-four-b of this chapter or article three,  seven,
 ten or 10-C of the family court act.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
