Directs the metropolitan transportation authority to establish a city university of New York student fare program for trains and buses which provides a full fare reduction for five train and/or bus fares each weekday equal to the standard pay-per-ride fare.

 AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to directing the
   metropolitan transportation authority to establish a  city  university
   of New York student fare program
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. The public authorities law  is  amended  by  adding  a  new
 section 1266-n to read as follows:
   §  1266-N.  CITY UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK STUDENT FARE PROGRAM. NOTWITH-
 STANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF LAW TO THE CONTRARY, THE AUTHORITY SHALL
 ESTABLISH A CITY UNIVERSITY OF  NEW  YORK  STUDENT  FARE  PROGRAM.  SUCH
 PROGRAM  SHALL  PROVIDE  EACH CITY UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK STUDENT WITH A
 FULL FARE REDUCTION EQUAL TO THE STANDARD  PAY-PER-RIDE  FARE  FOR  FIVE
 FARES  BETWEEN  5:00  A.M.  AND  11:00 P.M. EACH WEEKDAY FOR ANY AND ALL
 TRAIN AND/OR BUS TRAVEL.  ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE  STANDARD  PAY-PER-
 RIDE  FARE  AND THE REQUIRED FARE FOR SUCH SERVICE SHALL BE PAID BY SUCH
 STUDENT.
   § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of July  next  succeeding
 the date on which it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the
 addition,  amendment  and/or  repeal of any rule or regulation necessary
 for the implementation of this act on its effective date are  authorized
 to be made and completed on or before such effective date.
