 AN ACT to amend the state law, in relation to  designating  "The  Empire
   State" as the official state nickname
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

   Section 1. The state law is amended by adding a new  section  88-a  to
 read as follows:
   § 88-A. STATE NICKNAME. "THE EMPIRE STATE" SHALL BE THE OFFICIAL STATE
 NICKNAME.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
