 AN ACT to amend the family court act,  in  relation  to  establishing  a
   separate office of judge of the family court for the county of Essex
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Section 131 of the family court act is amended by adding  a
 new subdivision (y) to read as follows:
   (Y)  THERE SHALL BE A SEPARATE OFFICE OF JUDGE OF THE FAMILY COURT FOR
 THE COUNTY OF ESSEX AND  THE  COMPENSATION  PAYABLE  FOR  SUCH  SEPARATE
 OFFICE  OF  JUDGE  OF  THE FAMILY COURT SHALL BE THE SAME AS THE COMPEN-
 SATION PAYABLE TO THE JUDGE OF THE COUNTY COURT OF THE COUNTY OF ESSEX.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately  except  that  the  family
 court judge for the county of Essex provided for in this act shall first
 be elected at the general election to be held in November 2025 and shall
 first take office January 1, 2026.
