 AN  ACT to amend the education law, in relation to authorizing the state
   education department  to contract for a  program  related  to  teacher
   recruitment and retention
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Section 305 of the education law is amended by adding a new
 subdivision 63 to read as follows:
   63. THE COMMISSIONER IS AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED, SUBJECT TO  APPROPRI-
 ATION,  TO  CONTRACT  WITH A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION FOR A PERIOD OF
 THREE YEARS, BEGINNING IN  THE  TWO  THOUSAND  TWENTY-SIX--TWO  THOUSAND
 TWENTY-SEVEN  SCHOOL  YEAR,  TO  ESTABLISH  A  PROGRAM TO ADDRESS PUBLIC
 SCHOOL TEACHER RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION IN THE STATE.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
