SHIMSKY -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Codes AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to designating security officers for the village court of the village of Pleasant- ville as peace officers THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 2.10 of the criminal procedure law is amended by adding a new subdivision 60 to read as follows: 60. EMPLOYEES OF THE VILLAGE COURT OF THE VILLAGE OF PLEASANTVILLE SERVING AS SECURITY OFFICERS AT SUCH VILLAGE COURT; PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT NOTHING IN THIS SUBDIVISION SHALL BE DEEMED TO AUTHORIZE SUCH OFFI- CER TO CARRY, POSSESS, REPAIR OR DISPOSE OF A FIREARM UNLESS THE APPRO- PRIATE LICENSE THEREFOR HAS BEEN ISSUED PURSUANT TO SECTION 400.00 OF THE PENAL LAW. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD07032-01-5

THESE OFFICERS SHALL ONLY HAVE THE POWERS LISTED IN PARAGRAPHS (B), (H), AND (I) OF SUBDIVISION ONE OF SECTION 2.20 OF THIS ARTICLE; PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT NOTHING IN THIS SUBDIVISION SHALL BE DEEMED TO AUTHORIZE SUCH OFFICER TO CARRY, POSSESS, REPAIR OR DISPOSE OF A FIREARM UNLESS THE APPROPRIATE LICENSE THEREFOR HAS BEEN ISSUED PURSUANT TO SECTION 400.00 OF THE PENAL LAW; PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT IF SUCH EMPLOYEE IS NOT CURRENTLY A POLICE OR PEACE OFFICER PURSUANT TO SECTION 1.20 OF THIS TITLE OR 2.10 OF THIS ARTICLE, SUCH EMPLOYEE MUST SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THE TRAINING REQUIRED UNDER SECTION 2.30 OF THIS ARTICLE. § 2.
