S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 4090 2025-2026 Regular Sessions I N A S S E M B L Y January 31, 2025 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. CUNNINGHAM -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to providing for the suspension of a commercial driver's license if a driver has been convicted of a violation of local laws relating to a designated system of truck routes THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 3 of section 510-a of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new paragraph (f) to read as follows: (F) A COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE SHALL BE SUSPENDED BY THE COMMIS- SIONER: (I) FOR A PERIOD OF SIXTY DAYS WHERE THE HOLDER IS CONVICTED OF A VIOLATION OF A LOCAL LAW, ORDINANCE, ORDER, RULE OR REGULATION ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATIVE BODY OF ANY CITY, VILLAGE OR TOWN, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF PARAGRAPH TEN OF SUBDIVISION (A) OF SECTION SIXTEEN HUNDRED FORTY OR PARAGRAPH TEN OF SUBDIVISION (A) OF SECTION SIXTEEN HUNDRED SIXTY OF THIS CHAPTER. (II) FOR A PERIOD OF ONE HUNDRED TWENTY DAYS WHERE THE HOLDER IS CONVICTED OF A SECOND VIOLATION OF A LOCAL LAW, ORDINANCE, ORDER, RULE OR REGULATION ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATIVE BODY OF ANY CITY, VILLAGE OR TOWN, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF PARAGRAPH TEN OF SUBDIVISION (A) OF SECTION SIXTEEN HUNDRED FORTY OR PARAGRAPH TEN OF SUBDIVISION (A) OF SECTION SIXTEEN HUNDRED SIXTY OF THIS CHAPTER, BOTH OF WHICH WERE COMMITTED WITHIN A THREE-YEAR PERIOD. (III) FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR WHERE THE HOLDER IS CONVICTED OF A THIRD VIOLATION OF A LOCAL LAW, ORDINANCE, ORDER, RULE OR REGULATION ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATIVE BODY OF ANY CITY, VILLAGE OR TOWN, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF PARAGRAPH TEN OF SUBDIVISION (A) OF SECTION SIXTEEN HUNDRED FORTY OR PARAGRAPH TEN OF SUBDIVISION (A) OF SECTION SIXTEEN HUNDRED SIXTY OF THIS CHAPTER, ALL OF WHICH WERE COMMITTED WITHIN A THREE-YEAR PERIOD. § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law.
