THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Paragraph 2 of subdivision (a) of section 1180-b of the
vehicle and traffic law, as amended by chapter 229 of the laws of 2022,
is amended to read as follows:
2. No photo speed violation monitoring system shall be used in a

subdivision. The city shall install signs bearing the words "photo
enforced" below speed limit signs giving written notice to approaching

IS A SCHOOL SPEED ZONE AND THAT A PHOTO SPEED VIOLATION MONITORING
SYSTEM IS BEING USED FOR PHOTO ENFORCEMENT, AND SHALL BE PLACED WITHIN
FIFTY FEET IN EITHER DIRECTION OF A PHOTO SPEED VIOLATION MONITORING
SYSTEM.
§ 2. This act shall take effect on the sixtieth day after it shall
have become a law; provided, however, that the amendments to section

shall not affect the repeal of such section and shall be deemed repealed
therewith.
