 AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to establishing
   a central business  district  toll  exemption  for  certain  emergency
   medical technicians and fire protection inspectors

   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Section 1704-a of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by
 adding a new subdivision 5 to read as follows:
   5. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY PROVISION TO THE CONTRARY, NO EMPLOYEE  OF  THE
 CITY  OF  NEW YORK OR THE NEW YORK CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT IN A TITLE WHOSE
 DUTIES ARE THOSE OF AN EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN OR ADVANCED EMERGEN-
 CY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN (AS THOSE TERMS ARE DEFINED IN SECTION THREE THOU-
 SAND ONE OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH LAW), OR IN A TITLE WHOSE  DUTIES  REQUIRE
 THE  SUPERVISION  OF  EMPLOYEES  WHOSE  DUTIES ARE THOSE OF AN EMERGENCY
 MEDICAL TECHNICIAN OR ADVANCED EMERGENCY MEDICAL  TECHNICIAN  (AS  THOSE
 TERMS  ARE  DEFINED  IN  SECTION THREE THOUSAND ONE OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH
 LAW), SHALL BE CHARGED A CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT TOLL;  AND,  FURTHER,
 NO EMPLOYEE OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK OR THE NEW YORK CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT
 IN  A  TITLE  WHOSE  DUTIES  ARE THOSE OF A FIRE PROTECTION INSPECTOR OR
 ASSOCIATE FIRE PROTECTION INSPECTOR, OR IN A TITLE WHOSE DUTIES  REQUIRE
 THE SUPERVISION OF EMPLOYEES WHOSE DUTIES ARE THOSE OF A FIRE PROTECTION
 INSPECTOR  OR  ASSOCIATE  FIRE  PROTECTION INSPECTOR, SHALL BE CHARGED A
 CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT TOLL.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
