 AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to waiving  the
   central  business district toll for New York city sheriffs, undersher-
   iffs or deputy sheriffs acting in their official capacity

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Section 1704-a of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by
 adding a new subdivision 2-a to read as follows:
   2-A. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY PROVISION TO THE CONTRARY, NO VEHICLE USED BY
 A  SHERIFF,  UNDERSHERIFF  OR  DEPUTY  SHERIFF OF NEW YORK CITY SHALL BE
 CHARGED A CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT TOLL IF THE VEHICLE IS  USED  BY  AN
 INDIVIDUAL ACTING IN THEIR CAPACITY AS A SHERIFF, UNDERSHERIFF OR DEPUTY
 SHERIFF OF NEW YORK CITY AT THE TIME SUCH INDIVIDUAL'S VEHICLE ENTERS OR
 REMAINS IN THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
