S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 6742 2025-2026 Regular Sessions I N A S S E M B L Y March 11, 2025 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. KELLES, LEVENBERG, KIM, WOERNER, EPSTEIN, GIBBS, RAGA, FORREST -- read once and referred to the Committee on Correction AN ACT to amend the correction law, in relation to establishing a uniform electronic medical records system for correctional facilities THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The correction law is amended by adding a new section 144 to read as follows: § 144. UNIFORM ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORDS. 1. THE COMMISSIONER, IN CONSULTATION WITH THE COMMISSIONER OF HEALTH AND THE COMMISSIONER OF MENTAL HEALTH, SHALL DEVELOP A UNIFORM ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORDS SYSTEM TO BE UTILIZED BY ALL CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES IN THE STATE. 2. THE COMMISSIONER SHALL PROMULGATE RULES AND REGULATIONS NECESSARY FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THIS SECTION. § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amend- ment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implemen- tation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be made and completed on or before such effective date.
