OTIS -- read once and referred to the Committee on Election Law AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to the designation and nomination of candidates for village office in village elections conducted on the day of the general election THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Sections 6-100 through 6-168 of article 6 of the election law are designated title I and a new title heading is added to read as follows: DESIGNATION AND NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES § 2. Section 6-200 of the election law is amended by adding new subdi- vision 3 to read as follows: 3. WHENEVER A VILLAGE, PURSUANT TO SECTION 15-104 OF THE ELECTION LAW, HAS PROVIDED THAT VILLAGE ELECTIONS SHALL OCCUR ON THE DAY OF THE GENER- AL ELECTION, THE DESIGNATION AND NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES FOR VILLAGE OFFICES SHALL BE MADE PURSUANT TO TITLE ONE OF THIS ARTICLE. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD08408-01-5

OTIS -- read once and referred to the Committee on Election Law -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to the designation and nomination of candidates for village office in village elections conducted on the day of the general election THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 15-108 of the election law is amended to read as follows: 1. Nominations of candidates for elective village offices shall be made as provided in this section. PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT THE DESIG- NATION AND NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES FOR VILLAGE OFFICES, WHEN A VILLAGE PURSUANT TO SECTION 15-104 OF THIS ARTICLE HAS PROVIDED THAT VILLAGE ELECTIONS SHALL OCCUR ON THE DAY OF THE GENERAL ELECTION, SHALL BE MADE PURSUANT TO SECTIONS 6-100 THROUGH 6-108 OF THIS CHAPTER. § 2.
