Prohibits employees of the department of corrections and community supervision or a correctional facility from willfully obstructing, blocking or otherwise obscuring a body-worn or stationary camera from recording activities within a correctional facility for the purpose of hindering an existing or potential investigation, concealing a crime or criminal activity, or concealing otherwise unlawful behavior.

 AN ACT to amend the correction  law,  in  relation  to  prohibiting  the
   obscuring  of  body-worn  or stationary cameras in correctional insti-
   tutions
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  The correction law is amended by adding a new section 127
 to read as follows:
   § 127. OBSCURING BODY-WORN OR STATIONARY CAMERAS. NO EMPLOYEE  OF  THE
 DEPARTMENT OR A CORRECTIONAL FACILITY SHALL OBSTRUCT, BLOCK OR OTHERWISE
 OBSCURE A BODY-WORN OR STATIONARY CAMERA FROM RECORDING ACTIVITIES WITH-
 IN A CORRECTIONAL FACILITY. A PERSON WHO VIOLATES THE PROVISIONS OF THIS
 SECTION SHALL BE GUILTY OF A FELONY.
   §  2.  This  act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall

 ING WITHIN A CORRECTIONAL FACILITY  FOR  THE  PURPOSE  OF  HINDERING  AN
 EXISTING  OR  POTENTIAL  INVESTIGATION,  CONCEALING  A CRIME OR CRIMINAL
 ACTIVITY, OR CONCEALING OTHERWISE UNLAWFUL  BEHAVIOR.  AN  EMPLOYEE  WHO
 VIOLATES  THE  PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION SHALL BE GUILTY OF A MISDEMEA-
 NOR.
   § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day  after  it  shall
