Provides that where a supervisor in a town with a population of two hundred fifty thousand or more vacates their position before the end of their term, a special election shall occur in order to fill such vacant supervisor position.

 AN ACT to amend the  town  law,  in  relation  to  requiring  a  special
   election to fill a vacant supervisor position in certain towns
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. The town law is amended by adding a new section 89 to  read
 as follows:
   §  89. SPECIAL ELECTIONS FOR SUPERVISORS IN TOWNS WITH A POPULATION OF
 TWO HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND OR MORE.  NOTWITHSTANDING SUBDIVISION FIVE OF
 SECTION SIXTY-FOUR OF THIS CHAPTER OR ANY OTHER LAW TO THE CONTRARY,  IN
 A  TOWN WITH A POPULATION OF TWO HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND OR MORE, WHERE A
 SUPERVISOR HAS VACATED SUCH POSITION BEFORE THE END OF THEIR TERM, THERE
 SHALL BE A SPECIAL ELECTION HELD TO  FILL  SUCH  VACANCY.  SUCH  SPECIAL
 ELECTION SHALL BE HELD ON A TUESDAY AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
