2025-A9073 (ACTIVE) - Summary

Provides that a change in voter enrollment made after February 14th and before or on seven days after the last day to file the authorization certificate of nomination made at a caucus shall take effect on the seventh day after the last day to file the certificate of nomination made at a caucus.

 AN  ACT  to  amend the election law, in relation to the date a change in
   voter enrollment becomes effective
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

   Section  1.  Subdivision  3  of  section 5-304 of the election law, as
 amended by chapter 316 of the laws  of  2019,  is  amended  to  read  as
 follows:
   3. A change of enrollment received by the board of elections will take
 effect  immediately, provided however, any change of enrollment received
 by the board of elections after February fourteenth  and  before  or  on
 seven  days after the [June primary shall take effect on the seventh day
 after the June primary] LAST DAY TO FILE THE CERTIFICATE  OF  NOMINATION
 MADE AT A CAUCUS SHALL TAKE EFFECT ON THE SEVENTH DAY AFTER THE LAST DAY
 TO FILE THE CERTIFICATE OF NOMINATION MADE AT A CAUCUS.
   §  2.  This  act  shall take effect on the sixtieth day after it shall
 have become a law.    Effective  immediately,  the  addition,  amendment
 and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implementation
 of  this  act  on  its  effective  date  are  authorized  to be made and
 completed on or before such effective date.
