TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the executive law, in relation to protecting remote
workers who reside out-of-state under New York state's human rights law
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
To ensure those hired by companies operating in New York State are
subject to the protections of the New York State Human Rights Law.
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Section 1. The executive law is amended by adding a new section 298-b to
read as follows:
§ 298-b. Application of article to out-of-state employees. The
provisions of this article shall apply as hereinafter provided to
employers that maintain a physical address in the state of New York and
to employees, regardless of the location where such employees perform

AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to protecting remote
workers who reside out-of-state under New York state's human rights
law
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The executive law is amended by adding a new section 298-b
to read as follows:
§ 298-B. APPLICATION OF ARTICLE TO OUT-OF-STATE EMPLOYEES. THE
PROVISIONS OF THIS ARTICLE SHALL APPLY AS HEREINAFTER PROVIDED TO
EMPLOYERS THAT MAINTAIN A PHYSICAL ADDRESS IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK AND
TO EMPLOYEES, REGARDLESS OF THE LOCATION WHERE SUCH EMPLOYEES PERFORM
WORK.
§ 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
