 Introduced  by  Sen.  CLEARE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
   printed to be committed to the Committee on Crime Victims,  Crime  and
   Correction
 
 AN ACT to amend the correction law, in relation to requiring the depart-
   ment of corrections and community supervision to publicly post certain
   information  after  the  death  of an individual in the custody of the
   department
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. The correction law is amended by adding a new section 30 to
 read as follows:
   § 30. POSTING OF INCIDENT REPORTS. THE DEPARTMENT SHALL POST CONSPICU-
 OUSLY  ON  THE  PUBLIC  WEBSITE OF SUCH DEPARTMENT THE NAME, IDENTIFYING
 INFORMATION AND A SUMMARY INCIDENT REPORT OF ANY DEATH THAT OCCURS WHILE
 AN INDIVIDUAL IS IN THE CUSTODY OF THE DEPARTMENT.  SUCH  POSTING  SHALL
 OCCUR NO LATER THAN TWENTY-FOUR HOURS AFTER THE FAMILY OR NEXT OF KIN OF
 SUCH DECEASED INDIVIDUAL IS NOTIFIED.
   §  2.  This  act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
 have become a law.
