AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to waiving the
registration fee and service charge for distinctive plates for certain
volunteer firefighters and certain members of volunteer ambulance
services
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Subdivision 3 of section 404-b of the vehicle and traffic
law, as amended by chapter 277 of the laws of 1991, is amended to read
as follows:
3. A distinctive plate issued pursuant to this section shall be issued
in the same manner as other number plates [upon payment of the regular].
THE registration fee prescribed by section four hundred one of this
[chapter] ARTICLE and [an] THE initial one time service charge of
fifteen dollars SHALL BE WAIVED FOR ONE SET OF PLATES FOR EACH SUCH
APPLICANT UPON PROOF, SATISFACTORY TO THE COMMISSIONER, THAT THE APPLI-
CANT HAS ATTENDED TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT OR MORE OF THE EMERGENCY CALLS FOR
THE PREVIOUS YEAR.

amended by chapter 277 of the laws of 1991, is amended to read as

CANT HAS ATTENDED TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT OR MORE OF THE EMERGENCY CALLS FOR
THE PREVIOUS YEAR.
§ 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
