AN ACT making an appropriation to the office for people with develop-
mental disabilities for the purpose of increasing residential treat-
ment facilities in unserved and underserved areas
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The sum of two hundred fifty million dollars
($250,000,000), or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appro-
priated to the office for people with developmental disabilities out of
any moneys in the state treasury in the general fund, not otherwise
appropriated, and made immediately available, for the following
purposes:
a. One hundred twenty-five million dollars ($125,000,000) shall be
made available to the office for people with developmental disabilities
immediately to assist the office for people with developmental disabili-
ties with the development and providing programs for new residential
treatment facilities in unserved and underserved communities throughout
New York state; and
b. One hundred twenty-five million dollars ($125,000,000) shall be
made available to the office for people with developmental disabilities
one year after the effective date of this act to continue to assist the
office for people with developmental disabilities with increasing the
number of new residential treatment facilities in unserved and under-
served areas of this state through the development and providing of
programs for these new facilities.
Such moneys shall be payable on the audit and warrant of the comp-
troller on vouchers certified or approved by the commissioner of devel-
opmental disabilities in the manner prescribed by law.
§ 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
