 Introduced  by  Sen. PALUMBO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
   printed to be committed to the Committee on Codes
 
 AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to  the  statute
   of limitations for certain assault offenses committed against a member
   of the same family or household

   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Subdivision 3 of section 30.10 of  the  criminal  procedure
 law is amended by adding a new paragraph (i) to read as follows:
   (I)  A  PROSECUTION  FOR  ASSAULT  IN  THE FIRST DEGREE, AS DEFINED IN
 SECTION 120.10 OF THE PENAL LAW, COMMITTED AGAINST A MEMBER OF THE  SAME
 FAMILY  OR HOUSEHOLD, AS DEFINED IN SUBDIVISION ONE OF SECTION 530.11 OF
 THIS CHAPTER, MUST BE COMMENCED WITHIN TEN YEARS  AFTER  THE  COMMISSION
 THEREOF.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
