AN ACT to amend the mental hygiene law, in relation to members of a
mobile crisis team
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Paragraph 11 of subdivision (a) of section 36.03 of the
mental hygiene law, as added by section 2 of part EE of chapter 57 of
the laws of 2022, is amended to read as follows:
(11) "Mobile crisis teams" means a team licensed, certified, or
authorized by the office of mental health and the office of addiction
services and supports to provide community-based mental health or
substance use disorder interventions for individuals who are experienc-
ing a mental health or substance use disorder crisis. Members of a
mobile crisis team [may] SHALL include AT LEAST ONE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH
PROFESSIONAL, AND TO THE EXTENT PRACTICABLE, ANY COMBINATION OF, [but
not be limited to: behavioral health professionals,] certified peer
specialists, certified recovery peer advocates, credentialed family peer
advocates, and credentialed youth peer advocates.
§ 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
