TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to requiring
persons issued a driver's license or permit to report the instance of a
medically diagnosed seizure to the commissioner of motor vehicles
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
To require people who experience a seizure at any point to report such
instance of a seizure
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Section one amends section 502 of the vehicle and traffic law to state
that the commissioner shall promulgate rules and regulations requiring
any person issued a license or permit under this article to report the
instance of a medically diagnosed seizure.
Section two is the effective date.

AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to requiring
persons issued a driver's license or permit to report the instance of
a medically diagnosed seizure to the commissioner of motor vehicles
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 502 of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by
adding a new subdivision 10 to read as follows:
10. REQUIRED REPORTING. THE COMMISSIONER SHALL PROMULGATE RULES AND
REGULATIONS REQUIRING ANY PERSON ISSUED A LICENSE OR PERMIT UNDER THIS
ARTICLE TO REPORT THE INSTANCE OF A MEDICALLY DIAGNOSED SEIZURE EXPERI-
ENCED BY SUCH PERSON TO THE COMMISSIONER WITHIN SIXTY DAYS OF SUCH
SEIZURE.
§ 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amendment
and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implementation
of this act on its effective date are authorized to be made and
completed on or before such effective date.
