BILL NUMBER: S8355 SPONSOR: COONEY TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the highway law, in relation to dedicating a portion of the state highway system to Fire Chief Robert Bornt PURPOSE: Dedicating a portion of the state highway system in the Town of Peters- burg, County of Rensselaer, the bridge located on state route two, designated as bridge number 100025 shall be dedicated to "Fire Chief Robert Bornt" SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: The Commissioner of Transportation shall provide for the installation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to Section One of this act. However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of

COONEY, ASHBY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to dedicating a portion of the state highway system to Fire Chief Robert Bornt THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 345-d to read as follows: § 345-D. PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DEDICATED TO FIRE CHIEF ROBERT BORNT. THE BRIDGE LOCATED ON STATE ROUTE TWO, DESIGNATED AS BRIDGE NUMBER 100025, WHICH CROSSES OVER STATE ROUTE TWENTY-TWO IN THE TOWN OF PETERSBURG, COUNTY OF RENSSELAER, SHALL BE DEDICATED TO FIRE CHIEF ROBERT BORNT. § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as dedicated pursuant to section one of this act, provided that such signing shall state "Bridge Dedicated to Fire Chief Robert Bornt". However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the dedication called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such bridge shall not be changed as a result of this act. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD13334-01-5
