   printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules
 
 AN ACT to amend the  environmental  conservation  law,  in  relation  to
   extending  the  exemption of certain chemicals used in mattresses from
   regulation for an additional year

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  Subdivision  5  of  section  37-1005 of the environmental
 conservation law, as added by chapter  829  of  the  laws  of  2021,  is
 amended to read as follows:
   5.  Textiles  made  using modacrylic fiber components without antimony
 trioxide when used internally as a barrier material in a memory foam  or
 gel  foam  mattress or aramid fibers when used in the fabric that covers
 the bottom (non-sleep surface) of a mattress that has a sleeping surface
 on only one side of the mattress. This exemption shall expire on January
 first, two thousand [twenty-six] TWENTY-SEVEN.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
