 Introduced  by  Sen.  CLEARE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
   printed to be committed to the Committee on Health
 
 AN ACT to amend the public health law, in  relation  to  establishing  a
   center  for  technical  assistance  relating  to  age-friendly  health
   systems; and in relation to hospital performance data
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  This  act  shall  be  known and may be cited as the "age-
 friendly health system enhancement act".
   § 2.  Subdivision 1 of section 206 of the public health law is amended
 by adding a new paragraph (x) to read as follows:
   (X) ESTABLISH, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE OFFICE FOR THE AGING, A  CENTER
 FOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE IN RELATION TO AGE-FRIENDLY HEALTH SYSTEMS.
   §  3.  The section heading of section 2995-b of the public health law,
 as added by chapter 542 of the laws of 2000, is amended and a new subdi-
 vision 4 is added to read as follows:
   Hospital [report cards] PERFORMANCE DATA.
   4. SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS.  USING CRITERIA DEVELOPED FROM DATA COLLECTED
 PURSUANT TO THIS SECTION AND OTHER CRITERIA, THE DEPARTMENT SHALL DESIG-
 NATE HOSPITALS THAT ARE WELL EQUIPPED IN TERMS OF EXPERTISE AND TECHNOL-
 OGY TO PROVIDE CERTAIN TYPES OF CARE INCLUDING  STROKE  CENTERS,  TRAUMA
 CENTERS, REGIONAL PERINATAL CENTERS, BURN CENTERS, SEXUAL ASSAULT FOREN-
 SIC EXAMINER (SAFE) PROGRAMS AND AGE-FRIENDLY DESIGNATED HOSPITALS.
   § 4. This act shall take effect immediately.
