 Introduced  by  Sen.  ASHBY  -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
   printed to be committed to the Committee on Health
 
 AN ACT in relation to directing the commissioner of health to conduct  a
   study on kratom use by humans
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

   Section 1. 1. The commissioner of health shall conduct a comprehensive
 study on kratom. Such study shall include, but not be limited to, poten-
 tial health risks, benefits, and effects of kratom use by humans.
   2. The commissioner of health shall submit a report  on  such  commis-
 sioner's  findings and any recommendations pursuant to such study to the
 governor, the speaker of the assembly, the minority leader of the assem-
 bly, the temporary president of the senate, and the minority  leader  of
 the  senate  no later than one year following the effective date of this
 act.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
