Auburn - In recognition of Auburn native William Seward's role in acquiring the Alaskan territory which later became the 49th state in the United States, Senator Mike Nozzolio presented Alaskan Governor, Sarah Palin, with a special New York State flag to commemorate this historic event. The presentation took place during the City of Auburn's first Founder’s Day Ceremony.
