Honoring Local Volunteer!

Families from near and far flocked to the Andover Wetlands this past Saturday to take part in the Annual Andover Kids Fishing Contest.
The contest, which drew participants from all over the Southern Tier, is now in its 20th year thanks to volunteer Judy Scott who started the program in 1991 to help raise awareness for the Andover Pond, Dam and Wetlands.
Ms. Scott successfully advocated for $250,000 in state grant money and in-kind services that has resulted in restoration of the pond, dam and wetlands as an animal habitat and hunting and fishing area.
Pictured here: Senator Catharine Young presents Judy Scott with a Proclamation that celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the fishing contest and recognizes Ms. Scott’s efforts in ensuring that the Andover Wetlands, that people rely on for drinking, fishing and swimming, remains clean and safe.
