Jamestown Native Celebrates Her 100th Birthday with Senator Cathy Young

Senator Cathy Young presented Emogene Swanson with a Senate Proclamation honoring her 100th birthday during WJTN FM's Saturday Breakfast Party at Friendly's in Jamestown on Saturday April 7th. Born on April 10, 1912, in Jamestown, Emogene Swanson is a daughter of Sophie and Albin Frankson; she was raised with her four brothers and one sister and later married Alvin Swanson. The couple was married for 67 years.
Also celebrating birthdays were Eleanor Cowing, who turned 95 years old, and Helen Cronk and Kermit Johnson, who both turned 80.
On a side note, the Saturday Breakfast Party is one of the longest running, live audience participation programs in the country. The show was started in 1946 and is currently hosted by Dennis Webster.
