During Hurricane Sandy Recovery, Senator Klein Delivers Hot Meals to Seniors in Woodlawn
Jeffrey D. Klein
November 5, 2012
On Friday, my office learned that nearly 150 Woodlawn seniors in a highrise building were still without power. Concerned for these brave folks, my staff and I swept into action. Within three hours, thanks to the genrosity of local volunteers and a great Bronx restaurant (The Pine), I delivered 150 hot meals to every resident in the 100 unit apartment building. It took a lot of walking up dark stairwells, but it was definitely worth it. Assemblyman Jeff Dinowitz joined me, and we can safely say that we have never met a more upbeat and appreciative crowd. Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen!
