On Friday, September 27, 2013, Senator Bonacic attended a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) ceremony that recognized the successful restoration of essential CASA funding to the New York State 2013-2014 judiciary budget. CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children, to make sure they don’t get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives. Senator Bonacic is pictured, left to right, with James Rollins, President of the NAACP, Roz Magidson, Executive Director of the Dispute Resolution Center, and Greg Gillman.
