Hoylman Applauds the Port Authority of NY and NJ for Allocating Capital Funding to the Renovation of the PA Bus Terminal
July 24, 2014
"The current state of the Port Authority Bus Terminal is unsustainable as a central transit hub for the region. Daily commuters are consistently delayed in the sweltering heat and the facility is quite literally falling apart. By committing $90 million in capital funding to renovate the Port Authority Bus Terminal, the Port Authority is taking is an important step towards improving the day-to-day experience for hundreds of thousands of commuters and visitors. I applaud the Port Authority and its Executive Director Patrick Foye for their commitment to improving heating and cooling systems, faulty ceilings and on-time service, and look forward to working with the Authority as it continues to press forward with the Bus Terminal Master Plan, which would modernize and expand the capacity of the depot and help keep idling buses off our city’s streets.
