Jack M. Martins

January 15, 2014

The Senator Jack M. Martins and Senator Dean Skelos 1st Annual Basketball Camp was a smashing success. The first day, held on January 11 at the Dutch Broadway School, and the second day, held on January 12 at Elmont Memorial High School, brought out the community's youth to learn about the finer points of the game of basketball from qualified camp coaches.

Among the skills taught were ball handling, shooting, positioning and footwork.

Senator Martins and Senator Skelos partnered with Gateway Youth Outreach, Elmont West Civic, the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets. The camp was well attended and extremely well received as not only basketball skills but also participation, physical fitness, sportsmanship and teamwork were fostered.

The camp continues on January 18 at the Dutch Broadway School and January 19 at Elmont Memorial High School.
