Domestic Violence can affect anyone no matter what age, race, gender, religion, class or ethnicity. Throughout my tenure in the Senate, I have worked closely with advocates of domestic violence to strengthen New York’s laws to protect victims and punish perpetrator. Last year, two important bills that I sponsored became law (Chapter 480, Chapter 526). These new measures strengthened the guidelines surrounding the order of protection process and helped define economic and financial abuse in New York State.
