Sen. John Brooks
June 27, 2017
On Tuesday evening, Senator John E. Brooks and Assemblywoman Christine Pellegrino hosted a Town Hall meeting to hear from constituents and provide them with updates from the legislative session. The meeting, held at the Massapequa Library in Massapequa Park, was attended by local residents who voiced their concerns over community issues and also provided input on policy matters.
Senator Brooks said, “My number one priority is serving the needs of my constituents and being accessible to them. Their input is essential to making real, effective change in Albany and here at home on Long Island, and exactly why we’re here today. I want my constituents to know that my door is always open.”
Assemblywoman Pellegrino said, "Tonight's discussion about improving our schools, protecting our drinking water, fighting the heroin epidemic and providing tax relief to Long Island's families was extremely productive. Thanks to everyone from the community who took the time to attend and share their views."
Among the issues on the agenda were taxes, the environment, education, senior citizen concerns, LIRR, healthcare, the opioid epidemic and others.
This Town Hall meeting is one in an ongoing series Senator Brooks is hosting throughout the 8th Senate District. He encourages all residents to attend at least one Town Hall meeting to take the opportunity to ask questions about community issues and concerns, and the legislative process.
