Statement from Senator Carlucci on Supreme Court Ruling In Janus v. AFSCME
Senator David Carlucci
June 27, 2018
“This is clearly an attempt to silence workers and rig the system in favor of corporate giants. Here in New York we are standing up to Washington and fighting to protect our workers' rights. Legislation I co-sponsored, and which passed in the budget will protect union members' rights and allow unions to deny extra services to workers who do not pay union dues. This means unions do not have to provide representation to non-members in any disciplinary cases or provide any legal, economic, or job related services beyond those provided in the collective bargaining agreement. This will soften the blow of Washington's attempt to weaken our unions.”
