Senator Montgomery calls on Senate and Assembly leadership to consider exclusion of Co-op Shareholders from Section M of the Housing Stability & Tenant Protections Act
January 7, 2020
As many constituents have wrote letters in support of amendments, Senator Montgomery calls on leadership to consider changes to Section M of the Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act to exclude Co-op Shareholders. This Amendment would allow for the state to distinguish Co-op Shareholder relationships from that of a landlord and tenant, clarifying several provisions that do not specify whether or not they apply to Co-op shareholders. Ultimately, Senate Bill S.6770 provides protections to Cooperative Shareholders and excludes them from various restrictive provisions within Section M of the Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act.
