Vaccine Appointments in Yonkers

Andrea Stewart-Cousins

March 4, 2021

Dear Neighbor,

I hope you are all well. Here’s the latest news:

The vaccine site at the National Guard Armory at 2 Quincy Place (off North Broadway) in Yonkers is now open, and more appointments will soon be available to all eligible Westchester residents. To check vaccine eligibility, please click here. This week, hotel workers were made eligible as part of the 1B vaccine prioritization group

Additionally, my office has compiled a list of local pharmacies, hospitals and federally qualified health clinics FGHC), offering the vaccine, depending on availability. Please note, pharmacies can only vaccinate people 65 and older. Individuals with comorbidities and underlying conditions can go to a state vaccine site, an FQHC, or a hospital.

In my effort to ensure equitable vaccine distribution, the State has prioritized thousands of eligible residents in hard-hit parts of Yonkers and Mount Vernon for vaccine appointments at the new site. My office has distributed more than 10,000 flyers to get the word out, and we continue to make every effort to reach more people. A special thank you to the members of my Youth Advisory Council and the YWCA Yonkers who helped us hand out flyers, hand sanitizers, and masks on Friday in Yonkers.

You can join us in raising awareness about access to the vaccine by helping your family, friends, or neighbors who are eligible to book an appointment or share this video

Should you have questions about vaccine eligibility or how to make an appointment, you can call my office for assistance at (914) 423-4031 or email me at scousins@nysenate.gov.

Until next time,

Andrea Stewart-Cousins
New York State Senator, 35th District

  • The Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine has been authorized for emergency use by the FDA and recommended by the NYS Clinical Advisory Task Force. Westchester expects to get a supply of this vaccine which will enhance the ability to schedule more appointments.

  • $25 million will be allocated to the Nourish NY initiative to purchase food and products from Upstate farms and direct it to food banks across the state. Since April of last year, 21 million pounds of surplus agricultural products from New York farmers have gone to households in need.

  • Indoor dining in New York City was expanded to 35 percent capacity.

To address the health and economic impacts of COVID-19, we must protect and support a strong workforce. Workers across the state have shown incredible selflessness and perseverance throughout the pandemic, and the package of legislation passed this week is a step in recognizing and addressing their sacrifices:

For the start of Women’s History Month, I would like to acknowledge my dear friend and former NYS Senator, Velmanette Montgomery. Last week, I presented Velmanette with the first-ever Legislative Legacy Award in Albany for her distinguished 36-year career in the State Senate where she was a champion for children and families and people who are currently and have been incarcerated -- always knowing the importance of creating a pathway for people to better their lives.

Velmanette is an inspirational leader who opened doors for women from all walks of life to come after her. Learn more about her efforts and legacy in my sit-down interview with the former Senator, available here.

Every year for Women’s History Month, I honor three women in my district who have given their time, expertise, and effort to help others and their community.  You will soon meet this year’s honorees who have been instrumental in assisting others during the pandemic. Please stay tuned.
