“Trump governs by fear and division, reviving a racist and xenophobic travel ban that targets 19 countries. Let’s call this what it is: a blanket punishment of entire nations, driven by anti-immigrant hate and white nationalist politics.

"This ban will not make us safer: it will separate families, destroy futures, and further criminalize people seeking refuge from violence, extreme poverty and civil war. This is dangerous political theater that is inflicting harm abroad and right here in the Bronx. 

"We must resist the MAGA agenda. I strongly support passing the New York for All Act and the Dignity Not Detention Act before session ends. New York’s law enforcement and local governments should not aid and abet Trump’s deportation force as it spurns due process and our rights while carrying out mass raids, unjust arrests, or family separations.

"In the Bronx, we know our immigrant neighbors are the heart of our communities. I will fight to protect them and to ensure New York lives up to its promise as a sanctuary for all.”
