On February 25th, Senator Serrano attended Parks Advocacy Day. As Chair of the Senate Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks, and Recreation, Senator Serrano was thrilled to participate in Parks Advocacy Day in Albany. Parks and green spaces are vital for our health and well-being. New York’s State Parks System offers numerous benefits, including improved air quality, recreational opportunities, and spaces for community building.
This event highlighted the importance of our state's natural resources. Parks Advocacy Day provides an opportunity to learn about ways to care for our green spaces. Organized annually by Parks & Trails New York and the Open Space Institute, this gathering brought together advocates, local officials, and park enthusiasts from across New York State.
During the event, attendees shared stories and valuable insights about the many efforts involved in maintaining, operating, and preserving our beloved state parks. The discussions fostered a deeper understanding of the critical role that these green spaces play in our communities and underscored the collective responsibility we share in preserving them for future generations.
