New York State Senator Anthony Palumbo (R,C–New Suffolk) is pleased to announce that the New York Conference of Italian American State Legislators is now accepting applications for its 2026 scholarship program. This year's scholarships, each valued at $3,000, will be awarded — one recognizing academic and community achievement and one honoring athletic accomplishment.

Residents of the 1st Senate District who are high school seniors planning to attend college or students currently enrolled in a higher education program are eligible to apply. The Assemblyman James D. Conte Memorial Academic Scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated academic excellence and meaningful involvement in their community. The Senator John J. Marchi Memorial Athletic Scholarship is awarded to student-athletes who have excelled in organized sports while maintaining strong academic and community commitments.

Applications must be submitted online at www.nyiacsl.org/apply-for-scholarship-form. The deadline to apply is March 16, 2026.

“I am proud to once again join my colleagues in the New York Conference of Italian American State Legislators in offering these scholarship opportunities to deserving students,” said Senator Palumbo. “Whether through academic excellence, community service, or athletic dedication, these young men and women represent the very best of the 1st Senate District. I encourage all eligible students to apply.”

To be eligible, applicants must reside in a district represented by a member of the Conference and demonstrate financial need. Winners will be announced later this spring and recognized at a special event in Albany.

The New York Conference of Italian American State Legislators is a bipartisan organization of Assembly and Senate members committed to celebrating the contributions and heritage of Italian Americans throughout New York State while supporting educational achievement.
