Brooklyn native Cedric Small was announced this week as the recipient of the Metropolitan Regions Youth Advocate of the Year (YaYa) at a ceremony held in Albany by the state Department of Health, Bureau of Tobacco Control. He was also awarded a special recognition by state Sen. Roxanne Persaud (D-Southeast Brooklyn).

Senator Persaud, the Department of Finance and HPD are holding an event for homeowners and tenants at Canarsie High School's cafeteria (1600 Rockaway Pkwy, Brooklyn, NY 11236) on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Homeowners may apply for an exemption and lower their property tax bills; tenants (seniors and those with disabilities) may apply for SCRIE or DRIE and keep their rent from increasing.
